Regulatory Tribunal Experience
Edward has extensive experience appearing before regulatory tribunals. He has acted as counsel to numerous federal committees, including Banking Trade and Commerce and Legal and Constitutional Affairs.
Edward has represented individuals before the Ontario Securities Commission and in numerous Canada Revenue Agency and Ontario regulatory breach cases.
Edward acted as counsel to the deputy minister of Agriculture and as counsel for the Minister of Veteran’s Affairs. In the later role he advised the minister on the handling of the Authorson pension trust case. (Authorson v. Canada (Attorney General), [2003] 2 S.C.R. 40, 2003 SCC 39)
Edward acted as counsel for the Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, a federal development bank, during the period when it was involved in numerous RCMP investigations. The investigations resolved successfully in all cases for the Agency.
